This is a poor idea, as hardly anyone would benefit.

I don't think so. why it is poor? Sorry, if the challenge is hard. But I think that will be a benefit after all. You need only to take 5 minutes or 10 minutes. I meant that the people will throw what come to their heads.
I meant that it will be fun!!!
Sorry if it seem otherwise.
[It's a human being task, not a google task.]

Unless a problem is very obscure, how could anyone know whether the problem is open without doing a web search?

I never think about it. Thanks on your response!!!
I was thinking about famous open problems.
I know some:
P = NP or P !=NP
Zeta function
I was thinking that every mathematicians know a little. So I was wrong.
But thanks to you this post for me is not just, it is more. I know that in Israel there are articles on open problems.
I like to read on open problems and I was thinking that else people do it.
Well, I try in the next post or other will try [but I not meant to overflow the forum] to describe an open problems that it is known.
I was thinking about famous problems.
But you are right.
I think that in the future, the surf fests will help to find a problem that they know that are open.
You are very welcome!!!!

Did you mean to switch to upper case half way through that post?

All caps makes it seem like your shouting. If you want emphasis, bold or underline works.
