# How do I show complex fractions?

#### Chikis

Hello friends!
I think I have problem rendering this fraction in latex:
i over 2. How do I do it?
Please note that by writing i, I do not mean number one. I strictly mean lower case letter i.

Code:
{i \over 2}
or
Code:
\frac{i }{2}

Okay try and write this let see if it will work:
2 bracket open root 3 over 2 plus i over 2 bracket closed. Let see how the symbols will show in latex.

$$\displaystyle 2[{\sqrt 3 \over 2} + {i \over 2}]$$?

Use () and not [].

$$\displaystyle 2({\sqrt 3 \over 2} + {i \over 2})$$...

Alright thank you.

Perhaps this looks just little better:
$$\displaystyle 2\left(\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}+ \frac{i}{2}\right)$$

where I have used "\left(" and "\right)" to size the parentheses to the fractions.

Thank you.
